Two two children got injured on Saturday after a crude bomb kept in a bag exploded in Dumdum Cantonment railway station in Kolkata.

Safiq and Saharukh were playing when they found the abandoned bag. As they unzipped the bag and found a tiffin box inside, they tried to open it but it exploded, injuring the duo, Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP) Debashis Baig said. The two injured children have been rushed to the R G Kar Medical College Hospital in Kolkata.

The blast took place near platform number 2, where a tiffin box with a circuit has been found. A bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot as there were two more bombs inside the bag found at gate number 2.

According to initial reports, the blast took place when a rag picker was sifting through the garbage dump just outside gate number 2 of the station. The security forces also found three more crude bombs lying in the heap of garbage.

There was no impact on train movement, railway sources said.

Disposal squad have found 4 more crude bombs, which were diffused on spot.
