Kanpur: A man was arrested for allegedly threatening to blow up Kanpur central railway station, police said on Tuesday.
Kanpur SSP Shalabh Mathur said that Umesh alias Vakil, a resident of Fatehpur district, was arrested last night and a mobile phone, pistol were seized from his possession.
The SSP said that Umesh had called Kanpur RPF Superintendent Sunil Kumar Gupta on January 11 and threatened to blow up platform 1 of central Railway Station.
He had called Gupta using a mobile sim bought with a fake ID in the name of another man from Fatehpur to avenge an old enmity between them as both have filed cases against each other in a court there, he said.
A case has been registered against Umesh under various sections of the IPC, the SSP said, adding, further investigations are underway.
